Well Loved Little Ones
Our Puppy Program
We receive many questions regarding our puppy program, such as what their puppies have been introduced to and what to expect or prepare for when they are coming home to you. For starters our puppies come home very well socialized. We take pride in our puppies being ready to take on the world with you and all your upcoming adventures! Our program starts with early neurological stimulation, noise exposure, textures, kids, litter box training, crate introduction and doggie door introduction. If you have questions about any of these terms, don't worry, I will explain all of them below.
Early Neurological Stimulation
This is a process done from the time the puppies are newborns through two weeks old. This helps their nervous system to develop properly. There is a lot of touching, pets and introduction to temperatures.
Noise
There are many big noises in the world that can be really scary to a puppy. They have a great start in getting used to noises and being able to regain their composure after being scared of a sound. We use things like dropping a metal bowl, vacuum, blow dryer and radio.
KIDS!!
We have 4 beautiful girls at our house that love puppies! They mother them and love to just sit in their area and play with them. They take them sledding in the winter, down slides, swinging in the hammock and have even been known to introduce them to the trampoline. Believe me when I tell you they are WELL socialized with children. These activities are all done very gently and help the puppies not be scared of new things and activities. It helps them trust their family and know that they are safe and well cared for.
Litter Box Training
This is a wonderful tool! When the puppies start weaning from their mom at about 5 weeks old they are introduced to a litter box of pine pellets. They learn to keep their bed and play area clean and to potty in a designated area. This does not mean they come home potty trained, nor is it something that we suggest continuing at home, but it does give the puppies a great start to learning the difference between play area and potty area.
Vaccinations
Giving your puppies the best start to being healthy is a big priority for us. There are some scary diseases that we do everything we can to protect them from. Building up their immune system starts with keeping our moms up to date on their yearly vaccinations. The puppies get a lot of immune help from nursing. They then get a parvo virus vaccine at 4 weeks and their first puppy vaccine at 7 weeks. Then they get to come home! The following 2 puppy vaccines will be scheduled with your vet about 3 to 4 weeks apart. The puppies also come home dewormed with a healthy gut.
Food
Feeding puppies healthy food can make a big difference in their growth and development. Some of the food you can get in stores are equivalent to feeding these little ones hot dogs and milkshakes. As you can imagine this is not good for development. At our house we confidently feed Life's Abundance All Life Stages. It helps with gut health as well as quality ingredients that have not been recalled in over 20 years. Below you will find the link on where to purchase. This is what your puppy will come home eating.
